Here we have a Lowara FHS50/200/110 11 Kw horizontal flanged end suction pump.

This pump is close coupled to an 11Kw 2900 rpm electric motor. It came in to us from a nearby engineering factory and is used for pumping an industrial anti-freeze solution (propylene glycol).

Lowara FHS repair before

The pump assembly and electric motor were both stripped down in our workshop, all parts were thoroughly cleaned inspected and tested.

Lowara motor repair before

As you can see from the above picture, the mechanical seal had failed and leaked the glycol through the back casing and into the pump/motor bracket area. The pale yellow deposits you can see is what happens to the glycol when in contact with the atmosphere.

The stub shaft was removed, and the motor stripped down, re-leaded, washed out, and the windings were revarnished and stoved, and new motor bearings fitted.

Lowara motor repair after

The stub-shaft around the mechanical seal area was scored and required sleeving and machining. A new carbon, ceramic, epdm mechanical seal assembly was fitted and the unit reassembled, run and pressure tested to 10.0 bar.

The job was then repainted and returned back to the factory.

All our repair jobs are labelled up and given a job reference which will relate to a job card detailing all the work carried out and a full description of all parts used.

We keep a wide selection of mechanical seals in stock along with oil seals and SKF quality bearings. We can also carry out in house electric motor rewinds, and carry a stock of WEG electric motors up to 37 Kw.

We carry out repairs to most popular pump types and makes, including Calpeda, Grundfos, Ebara, Brinkmann, Pedrollo, SPP, KSB, and many more.
